Malta is the perhaps one of the most natural islands on this planet of ours! I have the utmost respect for Malta and it's people. Apart from the fact it is a most beautiful island and the inhabitants are generally very pro-British, my father was born in Sliema, Malta over 70 years ago and his mother's maiden name (my late grandmother) was Camilleri. Therefore, I have without a doubt  the highest affinity for Malta and it's inhabitants.

Malta itself consists of five islands which form an archipelago.  The main and largest of the five islands is Malta, which has Valletta as it's capital and which is also the country's capital. Valletta has been designated a World Heritage Centre for it's very old fashioned buildings which comprise the whole living area of the city! Then there is Gozo, the second largest island in the archipelago which is where most of the fruit and vegetable for the islands are grown. Just along from the Gozo shores, there is Comino. A beautiful little island with very spars population, flora and fauna but there is actually a 5* hotel on Gozo! Here you will also find the beautiful and warm waters of the Blue Lagoon. The remaining two islands, St. Pauls Islands and the island of Filfla are both un-inhabited. However, St. Pauls Island is the landing place of the man himself when he was travelling the Mediterranean and preaching the Gospel after the death of Jesus Christ. The lush, warm waters that surround the five islands are teeming with a variety for fish, dolphins, crustaceans and invertebrates, a lot of which are endemic the Maltese Archipelago. There have even been occasional sightings of the infamous Great White Shark seen basking very close to Malta's shores! Scuba diving or snorkelling is a must - provided you don't think too much about the Great White Shark sightings?

The three pictures below are inside and outside The Blue Grotto Malta.

The three middle pictures are:

(1) Yes, they do still use buses like this all over Malta!

(2) The Neolithic Temple (5,800 years old) at Ggantija, Malta. The temple pre-dates the pyramids of Egypt by at least 3,000 years! So the pyramids are not the oldest man made edifices in the world - not that any history book will ever tell you this fact?

(3) Malta in the wet season.

The three bottom pictures are:

(1) The Blue Lagoon, Comino - (2) The Mosta Dome (St. Mary's Church), Malta (3) Grand Harbour, Valletta.
